Yes I too am very saddened by the loss of two of our great supporters and friends-Peter Cobb and,more recently, John Baker.
Their contribution was really immeasurable and I`m sure that the orchestra will continue, but with the knowledge that much of their output was as a result of their dedication and committment.
RIP both of them

I like the new heading which appears on the web pages (how new is it? I haven’t been paying attention for a while) – especially the fact that it features the BASS clef for a change. Very correct!

It’s that time of year again when I send out my regular email.

Please would you pass on details of our Adult Orchestral Summer School.
This years’ course will take place 30th July – 6th August.

I want to make a comment about the Viennese concert at the Princes theatre (30/1/2011)………………absolutely fab`!
The orchestra was on superb form, the idea of the `pavement cafe atmosphere` was great(we even had some dancers)the soloists were excellent, Francis held it all together marvellously and I think all who attended would agree-it was a triumph!
Brenda,with her usual brilliant finesse made the introductions bright and humourous.
Very well done to all concerned!

I play in the Worthing Philharmonic orchestra and we are currently rehearsing the Shostakovich piano concerto No 2, which I see you played recently.
Inside the side drum part are 2 percussion parts for the Grand March from Aida which belong to the clacton concert orchestra!

Thanks for the Coffee Concert at “Heart’s Delight” Garden Centre. An enjoyable and relaxing occasion, with a good choice of pieces which showed off the talents of the players very well. Our three-year-old grandson Daniel enjoyed the music too (as did his parents), even though he needed to sit some distance away from the action!

“Basically Quartets” is coming together and we’re still in the process of matching up players. We’ve found the second violin we were looking for but are still on the lookout for a fairly experienced leader to complete the group. Another group requires a cellist at a grade 7/8 standard and we have one lone cellist at grade 5 with no quartet experience looking for 3 compatible novice players.

August 31 – September 5, Penmaenmawr, North Wales, £495 inclusive of meals, accommodation and all tuition.

Update on the “Basically Quartets” course:

We are looking for two more violinists to make up numbers in groups that have registered, one leader and one second violin. Please get in touch if you are interested.
