Ruth began her professional training in Liverpool, after which she performed extensively both as soloist and orchestral leader, going on to form her own orchestra and string quartet. She taught violin and spent much in training senior string groups both at the Landermere and the Clacton Music Schools until leaving recently in order to devote more time to her private teaching practice. She hass been leader of the Clacton Concert Orchestra since her appointment in 1975 and many of the violinists who have played (and still play) in the orchestra have been taught by Ruth.
